offering Jewish wisdom for our time.

Shavuot - Whose Torah?

Shabbat May 23rd, 4:30pm At the Goldhaber-Gordon home.

Sunday, May 24th, 4:30pm Online.

Shavuot is the holiday of revelation, celebrating the gift of Torah. But what is Torah, and who is it for?

My thoughts on these questions have shifted in the past several months, inspired by my new role in a multifaith office. But I have long believed that our understanding of these questions can either guide us, or misguide us, at times of division and fear.

Let’s confront some hard issues together.

NEW: Children are invited to participate in a fun activity while adults are studying.

Come be inspired!

Rabbi Ilana’s observations are sharp, and her approach is gentle. She teaches with a combination of storytelling, textual analysis, and emotional insight.

Shabbat afternoon study sessions include a little singing, small group discussions, a 20-30 minute teaching from Rabbi Ilana, and time for questions.

The atmosphere is casual and comfortable — come and go as you please.

These study sessions honor the work of Complete Picture, a nonprofit working to humanize individuals convicted of non-violent crimes. If you enjoy her study sessions, you can share your appreciation by donating here.
